The latest (and pretty great) Braves financial report
3+ week, 2+ day ago (323+ words) The Braves made bank this year The top line numbers are really quite good. Baseball revenue is up, revenue from the Battery Atlanta and other properties is up, and expenses are down. From Business Wire: Terry McGuirk was asked if the Dodgers had broken baseball with their spending. He didn't comment on what the Dodgers have done, because, yeah. But he reiterated his stance that he would like to see the Braves have a top 5 payroll. They have said this a lot in the past, however. I doubt they will make our offseason fantasies come true, but they should be able to do something. Sports teams are able to price the premium seating behind home plate, in the suites, and in the club level differently. You can raise much more money from this clientele that the rest of us. The…...
1+ day, 18+ hour ago (95+ words) I hope everybody's continuing to enjoy the holidays and that your Thanksgiving was lovely, as well. Also, I hope today's been a great day for y'all as well. The floor is now yours. Here's a random clip: This was a difficult year for the Atlanta Braves - and for others - but there are still many reasons to be thankful. The fuuutuuuuure (insert spooky noises) The holiday week rolls on Don't type "refresh MLBTR." The holiday week continues At least Spencer Strider won't have to deal with Brandon Nimmo as often...
Will anyone accept the Qualifying Offer today?
1+ week, 5+ day ago (151+ words) 13 chances for it to happen, but the odds aren't great. After yesterday's debacle (and then the Ohtani one last week), I'm gonna try to do this without needing a mid-day edit to the post. Probably won't succeed, but them's the breaks. Today is (not non-tender day) accept/reject Qualifying Offer day. 13 players were tagged with the QO a couple of weeks ago, which you can see here. Will any of them accept the QO and remain with their team and teammates for another go-round in 2026? There are a few factors for your consideration. Anyway, what do you think? Well, at least the Braves can't non-tender Ramon Laureano again It's a slow Sunday around here. It's a slow weekend around here. Let's chat about it. Let's chat about it. What's "it?" Who knows, really?...
Braves News: Player reviews, Cy Young winners, more
2+ week, 3+ day ago (166+ words) Atlanta Braves news and notes from Wednesday We continued our annual season review series with Sandy Leon, prospect Luke Waddell, and Jesus Bastidas. MLB.com's Mark Bowman got a few questions to Alex Anthopoulos at the GM meetings. Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes were the AL and NL Cy Young winners and deserved ones, though I'm unconvinced that Skenes in particular should have won unanimously. Despite the Diamondbacks' GM downplaying the possibility, a handful of the teams have inquired about trading for star Ketel Marte. Agent Scott Boras confirms that Japanese star Tatsuya Imai will be posted November 19th, meaning that he will sign sometime no later than around new years. The Braves got some promising news on a rotation centerpiece Baldwin had nothing but good things to say about his teammates. He was even at a teammate's house for the…...
2025 Atlanta Braves Prospects Reviews: Alex Lodise
3+ week, 4+ day ago (411+ words) Atlanta's 2025 second round pick performed well in his first taste of pro ball. How was he acquired? The Braves took Lodise with their second round (60th overall) pick in the 2025 draft, taking the shortstop out of Florida State. Lodise received a signing bonus of $1.3 million. In his final season with the Seminoles, Lodise appeared in 58 games, hitting 17 homers and posting an OPS of 1.167. Those numbers, combined with solid defense, netted Lodise the Dick Howser Trophy, which is given annually to the best college baseball player. Previous winners include Paul Skenes, Kris Bryant and Buster Posey, so Lodise is in some elite company there. What were the expectations for 2025? As Lodise was a 2025 draft pick, there weren't many expectations for the 2025 campaign. Simply getting a good look at him in a pro setting would have been good enough. However, Lodise actually put…...
2025 Atlanta Braves Prospect Reviews: Kendy Richard
1+ week, 6+ day ago (282+ words) A strong 2025 put Kendy on the map heading into 2026. Kendy Richard was an amateur free agent signed by the Braves in 2024 out of the Dominican Republic. What Were Expectations? Pretty much 2025 went right for Kendy. He turned had a very solid year for himself, putting up strong numbers throughout the season. While the pure stuff wasn't there at this stage, it was almost refreshing to see a pitcher live on pitch ability rather than pure stuff at this point of their career. Not much really went wrong. Kendy went from an organizational filler to a potential name to watch. At 6'2" 195 and a great base, it looks like he may be able to squeeze a little bit more out of his fastball which would make him a potential interesting pitcher.2026 Outlook After putting himself on the map in 2025, a repeat performance…...
Why is squash casserole your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
1+ day, 4+ hour ago (57+ words) No, I will not hear your green bean casserole heresy. Or anything with sweet potato. Because ew. This was a difficult year for the Atlanta Braves - and for others - but there are still many reasons to be thankful. 1+ day, 5+ hour ago (104+ words) Major League Baseball is in a bit of a lull now, but not for long, as the Winter Meetings are gearing up to kick off in Orlando on December 7. Hot stove action is just around the corner, but until then, we have a player review of Atlanta Braves reliever Hunter Stratton. The Miami Marlins re-signed right-hander Tyler Zuber to a minor league deal, per reports. Earlier this month, he was outrighted and became a free agent. "Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday.
